Diane Prokop is a freelance writer, who enjoys writing about local history, unsolved murders and the people and stories that give our communities its unique character.

Prior to writing for Patch, Diane wrote for the Northeast Times, where she won a 2007 Keystone Press Award for a six-part series focusing on the issues facing Philadelphia's Frankford neighborhood. Before joining the Times and a position as assistant marketing director for the Princeton University Store, Diane wrote for the Bucks County Courier Times and was a history columnist for Focus on Newtown. Her work has appeared in Woman's World Magazine and BBA New Homes Magazine. She's also the author of The Christmas Bus, which was published in 2003.

In addition to writing, Diane does marketing and public relations consulting and operates the Times House, a bed and breakfast in Jim Thorpe with her husband, Chris. It was home to the Times-News, during which time its longtime editor started the nickel-a-week campaign that ultimately brought Jim Thorpe's body and name to the towns of Mauch Chunk and East Mauch Chunk.
