KV Students' Pics Uploaded to 'Racy' Web site

'Up to four' Keith Valley Middle School students' photos were uploaded without permission to a Web site described by an administrator as being 'racy.'

Hatboro-Horsham School District and the Horsham Police are investigating how a handful of Keith Valley Middle School students' photos turned up on a Web site, an official told Patch. "Up to four" students had their photos uploaded - without their permission - to the Web site, which Assistant Superintendent John Nodecker described as being in "no way pornographic," but "racy."  Nodecker declined to share the name of the Web site and he said he did not know which grades the impacted students were in. According to Nodecker, the Keith Valley students were included on the site, along with a "number" of other area middle schools. Nodecker said "there may be more" Keith Valley students whose photos were uploaded without permission. The uploaded …

New Hatboro Web Site Coming in a Few Days

Hurricane Sandy delayed the rollout of the long-awaited Hatboro Web site, officials said.

Within a few days, Hatboro's sometimes difficult-to-access Web site will be a thing of the past.  Assistant Borough Secretary Diane Hegele told the council during Monday's meeting that the final step in relaunching the site - www.hatborogov.org - as a more user friendly update was to have council members comment on the site before it goes live. The council has until Friday to offer suggestions, she said.  "We will ask for the transition to occur on Friday," Hegele said. "I’ve been told by IT people that it usually takes about 48 hours." The new site, which was originally slated to launch in the summer, has been plagued by delays. Most recently, last month's super storm, Hurricane Sandy, postponed the transition, Hegele said.  "With the …

New Hatboro Web Site Coming in 2 Weeks

A borough official said the long-awaited site will not go live until Hatboro’s final $880 payment is received.

A mock-up has been viewed and trainings have been completed for five people tasked with updating Hatboro's new Web site.  But, there's only one hitch: It has to go live first.  And, Assistant Borough Secretary Diane Hegele told the borough council during Monday night's meeting that it will not launch for at least two more weeks.  "It will not go live until the final payment is made," Hegele said of the $880 due on the roughly $6,000 project.  Hegele said the council would vote on that final payment during its Oct. 22 meeting and said she did not realize that the expense was required to be paid in full prior to the launch. Officials had said previously that the new Web site would be live in July or August. Hegele said some of the delays …

Hatboro Web Site Re-launching Soon

The borough’s newly upgraded Web site is expected to be live in early September.

Hatboro residents, visitors and the business community are about three weeks away from clicking their way through a new, easier to use borough Web site, officials said. The site, which Sitecats Web Design is making over with a new look, added features and greater navigability, should be live the beginning of September, according to Diane Hegele, assistant borough secretary. “They’re in the process of moving everything over,” Hegele said. Ensuring that the site is mobile friendly is something the Web designers are also working on, she said. The Web address will remain the same, officials have said. Persistent problems with meeting minutes and other information dropping off the site, or not being accessible, pushed the move to an upgraded …

New Borough Web Site on the Way

The public, and elected officials can review mock-ups for the site later this summer.

Hatboro Council on Monday night outlined the next steps for the launch of its new Web site, which is expected to go live in July or August. Councilman Robert Hegele, chair of the Public Relations Committee said he anticipates the revamped site to be ready in four to six weeks.  Sitecats Web Development, which is heading the venture at a cost of about $6,000, sent borough officials a handful of possible mock-ups of the site last week. Hatboro resident Carol Inman voiced concerns about the inclusion of community members in the feedback and approval process. Inman said it was important that the public had a chance to review the storyboards to offer suggestions on how the site can be most accessible to and inclusive of people of varying …

Facelift Planned for Hatboro’s Site

Officials say the soon-to-be reworked site will be easier to navigate and update.

The address will remain the same, but this summer, Hatboro’s existing Web site will have a new look, additional features and greater navigability, officials said. The council this week voted unanimously to approve a $5,587 contract with Sitecats Web Design to make over the existing borough Web site. Once complete, in six to eight weeks, the upgraded site would be easier for various borough departments to post information, update the site and for police to add timely alerts regarding crime and evacuations, officials said. Sitecats representative, Tom Allebach, in his brief presentation to the governing body, said the Doylestown-based company, which has been in business for six years, designs hundreds of Web sites, including municipal Web …

Horsham Recognized for Keeping Citizens Informed

The township won first place in the Association of Township Supervisors’ 43rd Annual Township Citizen Communication Contest.

Interested in mapping out a trail route to bike, run, or walk before winter sets in? Horsham Township’s got you covered. Not only through its extensive network of inter-weaving trails, but through a color-coded map depicting everything from parks, schools, golf courses and Willow Grove air base. The township mailed out the bright-colored trail map to residents in 2009 hoping outdoor enthusiasts would take note of the trails in or abutting their backyards. “People were very happy with it and considered it very helpful,” Township Manager Bill Walker said. “People started coming up with trail connections … Usually when you want to put connecting trails in you get a lot of negative feedback from residents.” That positive momentum carried …
