Fire Crews Battle Suspicious Horsham Blaze

Area fire companies extinguished the second garage fire in less than a week Wednesday night in Horsham.

A fast-moving, heavy fire that tore through a two-car detached garage situated behind the Village Mall in Horsham Wednesday evening appears to have been set, an official told Patch. Horsham Township Fire Marshal George Fida said the fire, which started at 6:45 p.m. at a garage adjacent to a home on Moreland and Summer avenues, looks suspicious.  Fida told Patch that the investigation would continue, but he said the garage, which was used for storage space, contained "plenty of plywood," but had no electric source and nothing inside of a combustible nature.  For more news and updates about Hatboro and Horsham, subscribe to our free newsletter,"like" us on Facebook or follow @Hatboropatch on Twitter. Post-Fire, Horsham Montessori School Ready for Kids

Despite the loss, Melnick is hopeful. “They started a book drive already,” …

'Suspicious' Student Prompts High School Lockdown

'No one was ever in danger' during the 35-minute lockdown, administrators said.

A "suspicious" male who was an unfamiliar face to at least one Hatboro-Horsham High School employee prompted a lockdown at the school Tuesday morning shortly after 9.   "One of our high school personnel saw a student they thought was suspicious, or acting suspicious," Hatboro-Horsham School District Superintendent Curtis Griffin told Patch. Initially, the employee wasn't sure if the male in question even attended the high school. "It's typical for our staff to know a lot of the students." The employee immediately contacted High School Principal Dennis Williams and Williams placed the school under an emergency lockdown from about 9:05 a.m. until about 9:40 a.m. The Horsham Police Department responded to the school and conducted an "…
