Horsham Doctor Charged in Painkiller Death
A year after being charged as part of a 498-count indictment, Horsham doctor Norman Werther faces charges stemming from a drug overdose death.
A Horsham doctor who is believed to be at the center of a two-year drug trafficking ring, has been charged with causing a man's death by overdose, according to an article in the Seattle Post Intelligencer. Dr. Norman Werther, 73, of Horsham, who federal authorities charged in August 2011 as the alleged ringleader in a scam to unlawfully acquire and distribute more than 200,000 pills containing oxycodone from September 2009 and July 2011, is accused of illegally prescribing hundreds of oxycodone tablets to the victim in 2010, according to the article. It's such a shame there are so many people out there with terrible pain every day of their lives from car accidents, work injuries, etc. that abuse prescription drugs each and every day.I hear of some that treat with multiple Drs. and get pain killers and narcotics and are double and triple dosing.   more ›
