Zoners Reject Apartment Floodplain Plan

The Hatboro Zoning Hearing Board rejected an application that called for the construction of two-story apartments in a frequently flooded area.

The Hatboro Zoning Hearing Board unanimously denied granting a special exception to allow 16 two-story apartments to be built in a flood-prone section of South York Road.  Following six devastating floods since 1999, Horizon Property Management had hoped to build the residences where automotive businesses are currently situated at 332 S. York Road. The landlord had been seeking variances that would permit new construction in the floodplain and would allow for the clearing of all but Manja Pizza.  But, during Wednesday's night's brief zoning meeting, the three-member board voted to reject the plan because the applicant had not "showed hardship" or the need for a special exception. Tonelli's Construction Could Begin by Spring

The long-awaited second location of Horsham's Tonelli's Pizza Pub could get underway soon, following next month's zoning hearing board meeting.

"It’s important for us to get that sign in the rear of the property," a Tonelli's representative told the Horsham Township Council Monday night during a review of upcoming zoning hearing board applications. Because of the additional sign request and minor infringement of the township's required setback, Randa will …

This doesn't work. If you don't like the way things are, go back to jersey or new york or wherever it is you came from.   more ›

Penn Valley Church Eyes Move to Hatboro

The Bux-Mont campus is seeking a more permanent address on Lincoln Avenue in the borough's heavy industrial district.

The Bux-Mont campus of Penn Valley Church is hoping to trade temporary setup and teardown facilities with a more permanent address. The church, which currently rents two rooms at the Blair Mill Inn on Blair Mill Road in Horsham, has its sights set on leasing 400 Lincoln Ave., adjacent to Next Level Automotive Service, Inc., in the borough’s heavy industrial district. “It’s going to be a greater expense,” Pastor Tony Osimoso, a Warminster native, said, adding that the cost would be about twice what the church is spending now. “It really is a step of faith.” But, before that step can move forward, Hatboro’s Zoning Hearing Board, on Jan. 11, must first green light what would be a non-conforming use, officials said. Churches are typically …
