Manja Pizza Closes

Manja Pizza, which opened at the south end of Hatboro last year, has closed up shop.

Manja Pizza had survived Hurricane Sandy and the prospect of torrential flooding and damage, but apparently could not sustain the five-year lease its owners inked last year. Signs on the outside of the former eatery advertise a storefront restaurant and include a phone number for one of the 332 S. York Road property's owners, Linda Clauser of Horizon Property Management.  Calls made to Clauser were not returned. But, another owner, George Kiriakidi, confirmed on Tuesday that Manja, had, in fact, closed up shop. "They closed," was all Kiriakidi said.  Kiriakidi declined to say why or when the business closed, or what the owners hoped to add to the building in the future. Hatboro Property Owner Seeks Buyout—Again

The owner of 332 S. York Road is advancing two separate plans for the frequently flooded Hatboro commercial property.

Plans to buyout and demolish an often flooded Hatboro commercial property is again back on the table. During Monday night's Hatboro Borough Council meeting, the governing body approved the submission of a government buyout application for 332 S. York Road, the site where Manja Pizza and several auto repair shops are situated. It is also where Quig's Pizza had been located until Hurricane Irene filled it with feet of water, forced its closure and required that the building be gutted. Actually, that is not accurate. There are a dozen Woodwinds property owners currently seeking government buyouts for their homes. If a property floods often enough - regardless if it's commercial or residential - the state/federal government can consider paying the owner an amount for the property (based on an appraisal and other factors). Manja Pizza Delivery Driver Saves Life

Richard Souza of Manja Pizza in Hatboro alerted a resident of Blair Mill Apartments in Horsham to an odd smell - which ended up revealing high levels of carbon monoxide.
