Whether your team is playing or not, everyone looks forward to Super Bowl-style eating. Here are the best places to get game day grub, as well as some easy recipes you can whip up yourself at home.
On Feb. 3, Super Bowl Sunday XLVII will commence. Some people look forward to the game, the funny commercials and the halftime show (Destiny’s Child reunion!). But others are solely there for the wings, the nachos and the pizza—and rightfully so. There’s something about Super Bowl food that gives the day an almost Thanksgiving-like aura. Both events boast a big, communal meal—except on Super Bowl Sunday, it’s usually deep fried and covered in Buffalo sauce. In Horsham and Hatboro, there are plenty of local places that offer gameday food, and restaurants that have special Super Bowl menus. At Lee's Hoagie House in Horsham, guests can indulge in unlimited hoagies, cheesesteaks, wings and fountain sodas for the duration of the game for $25 …

Horsham Township is organizing its first-ever Freezer 5K and one-mile walk for Dec. 16.
Jon Waxman set out to “get the whole community together.” And, by the participation on the organization end of Horsham’s first-ever December 5K, it would seem that Waxman, owner of Lee’s Hoagie House locations in Horsham and Abington, succeeded. “I wanted to get involved with the community,” Waxman told Patch. “I didn’t know what to do.” But, Mark Hudson, Horsham Township’s Parks and Recreation Department director did. “I always wanted to do a 5K, but never knew how to do it,” Hudson said. With insight from Hatboro Area YMCA Executive Director Gary Chamberlain, as well as representatives of Fleet Feet Sports, Horsham is running with its community outreach effort, the Freezer 5K run and one-mile walk. The title of the Dec. 16 event holds a …

Horsham Township Council approves a beer-only liquor license for Lee's Hoagie House.
The owner of Lee’s Hoagie House is hoping beer drinkers will find a home at the Route 611 eatery. Jon Waxman, who has owned the sandwich shop for three and a half years, got unanimous approval Wednesday night from Horsham Township Council to transfer a beer-only liquor license from a Lansdale establishment to his business. Waxman is hoping the license, which he bought for $125,000, will be a shot in the arm for the sandwich shop. “Economically, it’s definitely been a struggle,” Waxman said, noting that military from the all-but-shuttered Willow Grove air base had made up a large portion of his regular customers. “Twenty-five percent of our business used to be from them.” Waxman began working at the Abington Lee’s Hoagie House in 1982 and …

Horsham OKs Philly Soft Pretzel Factory parking lot expansion, sets date for liquor license transfer.
Soft pretzel lovers rejoice! No longer will drivers be unable to find a parking spot when stopping by Philly Soft Pretzel Factory. Other improvements include an underground detention basin and storage basin and the addition of a no left turn sign to be installed on the adjoining property. In other business, the council set Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m. for a public hearing on a liquor license transfer for Lee’s Hoagie House. Township Manager Bill Walker said that if approved, the beer-only license would be transferred from another business outside of the township to the Lee’s …
