The facility occupied by Comcast in Horsham is expected to double in size with the addition of a second tenant, officials said.
By next year, the Comcast facility in the 12-acre Pennsylvania Business Campus on Dresher Road could double in size, adding 250 new jobs at the site, officials said. But, before the building can accommodate more employees, Liberty Property Trust, the campus' management company, needs to expand its parking from the existing 521 spaces for 500 Comcast employees to 655 total spaces, officials said during Wednesday night's Horsham Township Council meeting. The council took no action on Liberty's land development plan. The governing body is expected to render a decision at its June 12 meeting, according to Horsham Township Manager Bill Walker. Once approvals are in hand, construction would begin between now and July 2014, depending on how …

NaBrasa Brazilian Steakhouse in Horsham looks to enclose patios, carry out facade improvements, add an upscale beer retail shop and more.
It may become easier to enjoy the tastes of NaBrasa Brazilian Steakhouse at home as part of various improvements and new additions that the Horsham-based eatery is planning. One of the upgrades the restaurant is considering, according to Horsham Township Manager Bill Walker, is the addition of a takeout area and four "curbside pickup" parking spaces at the entrance on Jefferson Avenue. Other plans include enclosing the restaurant's two existing patios, as well as undertaking facade improvements along Route 611 and Jefferson Avenue, according to Walker. Planned streetscape improvements - curbing, sidewalk, grass, trees and bushes - on 611 would result in the relocation of the existing 10-12 front parking spaces to an overflow parking lot …

More modern restroom facilities will be installed at Kohler Park in Horsham later this year.
A new playground and pavilion will be in place by April 1 and updated bathrooms will replace those currently in use at Kohler Park in Horsham, officials said. The Horsham Township Council recently approved ordering the new restrooms, which the township's public works employees will install in September or October, Township Manager Bill Walker said. Besides being equipped with a four-foot stone veneer on the bottom and a siding look on the upper section of the exterior, Mark Hudson, Horsham's Park and Recreation director said the new facilities will come with another important feature: running water and sewer. The existing bathrooms have neither of those amenities, he said. The $300,000 Kohler Park project has been in the works for …

Officials said the Comcast location situated in the Pennsylvania Business Campus in Horsham is looking to double its space.
The Comcast facility located in the 12-acre Pennsylvania Business Campus on Dresher Road in Horsham is looking to double in size, officials said. Representatives from Liberty Property Trust, the campus' management company, came before the Horsham Township Council this week for review of six variances requested from the zoning hearing board. The variances, attorney Howard Brown told the governing body, are precursors to the submission of land development plans. Currently, Comcast is situated in half of 700 Dresher Road and the other half is vacant, according to Horsham Township Manager Bill Walker. Walker said Comcast moved in in November 2011 and employs 500 workers. Zoning relief stems from parking at the campus and the owner's intention …

Horsham Township's energy use is being evaluated by the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission in hopes of devising energy-saving and cost-cutting alternatives.
Horsham Township has switched from traditional lights to LED bulbs in its traffic lights, 100 street lights will become LED-powered soon and a solar light illuminates the parking lot behind the township building. Horsham has done all it knows how to become more energy efficient, Township Manager Bill Walker said during Monday night's township council meeting. Now, the township is looking to expand its energy conservation horizons even more with help from the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission. Liz Compitello, a research analyst in the DVRPC's Office of Energy and Climate Change Initiatives, gave a brief presentation during the council's meeting outlining a year-long township-specific program which got underway in October 2012. …
The long-awaited second location of Horsham's Tonelli's Pizza Pub could get underway soon, following next month's zoning hearing board meeting.
Owner Chip Randa has hit another speed bump en route to opening his second Tonelli's Pizza Pub in Horsham Township. Randa, who also owns the roughly 100-seat Easton Road eatery with wife Maura, would like to have three signs at his long-awaited site at 1055-1101 Horsham Road instead of the maximum two signs permitted. One of the signs is planned for the rear of the property, directing customers to the restaurant's takeout area. "It’s important for us to get that sign in the rear of the property," a Tonelli's representative told the Horsham Township Council Monday night during a review of upcoming zoning hearing board applications. Because of the additional sign request and minor infringement of the township's required setback, Randa will …

The Horsham Township Council hopes to have pedestrian signals installed at Horsham and Babylon roads.
The intersection of Babylon and Horsham roads serves as a detour for the township's PECO Power Line Trail and a crossing point for Hatboro-Horsham High School athletes. And within a few weeks, Horsham Township officials said people on foot will be able to cross the roadway more safely. During Monday night's Horsham Township Council meeting, the governing body voted 4-0 to approve a permit application for pedestrian signalization of the busy intersection, which is adjacent to the Horsham Township Library. Councilwoman Deborah Tustin was absent. Township Manager Bill Walker said he expects to receive the needed materials from PennDOT within a few weeks and to have the flashing pedestrian signals installed by early March. Walker said the …

In anticipation of the Willow Grove air base redevelopment, the Horsham Township Council adopted an ordinance to increase its traffic impact fees for new construction.
Developers will pay nearly triple or more than quadruple what they paid last year in traffic impact fees under an ordinance that Horsham adopted this week. The Horsham Township Council adopted the ordinance Wednesday which establishes its new transportation impact fees. The ordinance was the final step needed to update Horsham's 20-year-old Act 209 Plan, which sets the amount developers pay. The original plan set traffic impact fees at $826 for the eastern portion of the 17-square-mile township and $480 for the western portion of the township. As proposed, the fees would increase to $2,366 for the east and $2,235 for the west, according to Horsham Township Manager Bill Walker. Traffic impact fees are worked into a fairly complicated …

The Horsham Township Council introduced an ordinance for the third time to eliminate the Airport Crash and Noise Overlay District.
Calling it a "housekeeping item" following the closure of Willow Grove air base and its runway, the Horsham Township Council again put the wheels in motion to amend zoning in the area surrounding the shuttered military base. The governing body voted 4-0 Wednesday to introduce an ordinance to eliminate the so-called ACNOD, or Airport Crash and Noise Overlay District and to remove development restrictions currently in place. Councilwoman Deborah Tustin was absent Wednesday. The governing body had originally introduced the ordinance in April 2011, prior to the Horsham Land Reuse Authority’s denial last summer of an airport on the bulk of 862 acres eyed for redevelopment. Then, in August 2012, the council had again introduced the ordinance, …

"There would be "office" jobs. She also would not disclose if any of the jobs would be new jobs for Horsham, or simply resulting from a business relocation." So what this is saying, there is NOT a guaranteed that any jobs would be available. So why is the patch reporting this? Also, what the hell is the big secret about what company is going to occupy the space? Sounds like a bunch of crap to me!   more ›
