Horsham Nets $6K for Families in Need, Parks

Horsham Township's first-ever Freezer 5K raised $6,000, which will be used primarily to buy food for Horsham families in need.

With organizers already mapping out a date for next year’s Horsham Freezer 5K, it would be safe to say that the township’s first-ever collaborative fundraising effort was a success. “It was a good day,” Mark Hudson, Horsham’s park and recreation director told Patch of Sunday’s run/walk. “The runners really came out and supported us.”  And, by doing so, the 375 runners and 40 to 50 walkers put their feet to the pavement for Horsham families in need. Hudson said the approximate $6,000 raised will help to fill the freezers of 10 Horsham households. The hope, Hudson said, is to have food available for donation before Christmas.
