Are you gearing up to let your fingers do the walking on Cyber Monday?
Hatboro and Horsham residents who didn’t want to brave the crowds on Black Friday or Small Business Saturday still have one more big chance to save courtesy of Cyber Monday. Similar to the two other major shopping events, Cyber Monday differs in that consumers don’t have to leave the comfort of their own homes (or offices) to take advantage of some pretty big pre-holiday deals. All the bargains laid out for Cyber Monday are for online shoppers only. So how can you find the best deals online this Cyber Monday? While most major retailers that have an online presence aren’t tipping their hats on their online deals just yet, many have splash pages set up that they're inviting shoppers to bookmark in advance of the Nov. 26 shopping holiday. …

How much is too much to spend on children and teens? We want to hear your thoughts.
As the holiday shopping season goes into full swing, some people are maxing out their credit cards to pay for presents and others are setting budgets and sticking to them. Scour just about any Facebook stream or stop in a local coffee shop and chances are you’ll hear parents debating the merits of setting spending limits. Or, you'll hear them lamenting about just how much they've already spent. The ideas for a perfect limit do seem to vary rather greatly. Some parents say $100 per child is more than enough. Others tend to lean toward much more generous figures. After all, there’s nothing like seeing a child’s eyes light up as they unwrap gift after gift. And that’s what we want to hear from you about. Do you set spending limits on the …

Looking for creative ways to show your love this Hallmark holiday? The Brunette Lucy has some ideas.
It’s almost Valentine’s Day; the day when a half-naked cherub flits and flies about, randomly slinging arrows into people’s hearts. Good thing Valentine’s Day doesn’t fall during hunting season, or someone might shoot back. Women usually look forward to this day, but many men, on the other hand, see it as penance for Super Bowl Sunday. We’ve been inundated with commercials touting this or that product as the perfect gift for the special day. Normally, it’s chocolates, jewelry and flowers. But I’ve also noticed some rather unusual gifts being advertised, things such as giant teddy bears and hooded footie pajamas. To me, they don’t make sense. One would hope that on this special day, men would want women to be cuddling with them, not some …

We have the date memorized, yet the year's biggest holiday always seems to emerge all of a sudden.
I think I feel behind schedule on most holidays. Somehow, even though it is clearly marked on the calendar, those dates seem to sneak up on me. I may, today, just about be ready for Halloween. Sadly, I was supposed to have everything in order for this family to celebrate Christmas. Too bad I’m only two months behind, huh? Setting the 2011 schedule even further into a tailspin, I thought it would be an ideal time to have pneumonia, as well. Now, instead of finding myself in need of a few last-minute stocking stuffers, I feel like I’m running out of time altogether. My favorite way to shop is online. If I never had to set foot into a mall again in my life, I’d be pretty happy about that. Alas, being behind schedule either means shelling out …

The classic lessons of Ebenezer Scrooge hold true today.
December brings a feeling of expectancy and celebration mingled with anxiety and dread if you are on a college campus. The semester is almost over, but the final exam and culminating project are looming large in the minds of most undergrads. My general psychology class has been a particularly exceptional bunch of kids and I wanted to offer a bit of extra credit to them in exchange for their consistent effort during the semester. I offer extra credit when I think that most students are working hard and yet some may have difficulty showing how well they understand the material through static assessments such as chapter tests. One assignment offered to them was to write their obituary, which I assigned close to All Saints Day in hopes of …
