Horsham Pub to Open Monday

The newly renovated Horsham Pub, situated where Gavin's Tavern was previously located, features 24 TVs and seating for more than 300.

The interior is bright, the sandwiches "legendary" and two dozen TVs are sure to keep patrons' attention as they contemplate wings and beer at the newly renovated Horsham Pub. Formerly Gavin's Tavern, the smoke-free "family pub" situated at 1144 Horsham Road in Horsham will open Monday at 4 p.m. Owner Joe Wade, who also owns the Pour House in Jamison and the Publick House in Wycombe, has spent the last eight weeks renovating and updating the facility, which seats more than 300 people.  "It needed to be freshened up," Wade said of the interior, which he described as a "little darker, a little smokier" before. Food was good. Service was very friendly. The "make over" was nice. No smoky smell and it was not dark inside. A few things from the former bar remain (especially in the bathrooms which were not done over). Drinks.. a little on the expensive side. A youth soccer crowd was there on the night we were there. Gavin's Tavern in Horsham to Close

After 31 years, the Horsham sports bar is closing its doors on Christmas Day.

The expression "when one door closes another door opens" aptly sums up the coming days and months for Gavin's Tavern in Horsham. Even as owner Bobby Gavin stares down his 31-year business' final days - the 1144 Horsham Road sports bar will close for good on Dec. 25 - Gavin is reluctant to say the Horsham Road bar is closing. "It’s not really closing, I’m selling," Gavin, 63, told Patch. "I've been at it 31 years. It’s just the right time." Gavin said Joe Wade, the owner of Jamison Pour House, is purchasing the building and closing is slated for Dec. 28.
