Horsham Amends Police Pension

Changes to the Horsham Township Police Department's pension plan stemmed from a binding decision issued in May.

The Horsham Township Council formalized an arbitrated change to the township’s police pension this week.   Under the ordinance that the governing body adopted on Wednesday, the 36 uniformed officers that comprise the Horsham Township Police Department would have their pension plans switched to a Deferred Retirement Option Plan, based on the American Arbitration Association’s decision in May. Prior to holding a public hearing – which generated no comments or questions – Council President Mark McCouch said that the new plan allows police to continue participating for up to three years after they are eligible to retire.
