Pedestrian Struck in Horsham in 'Serious' Condition

A 72-year-old woman was hit by a vehicle on Easton Road in Horsham Thursday evening.

A 72-year-old woman is in Abington Memorial Hospital after being struck by a vehicle on Easton Road in the area near the Days Inn Horsham Thursday evening, police said.  The woman, who is from out of state, according to Horsham Township Police Deputy Chief Bill Daly, sustained lacerations to the head and was admitted to the hospital in "serious" condition following the 6:54 p.m. crash which rerouted traffic on Easton Road until 8:06 p.m. Thursday.  "Initially it appears the female was attempting to cross Easton Road and was struck by a passing vehicle," Daly told Patch.  Daly said the woman, who police declined to identify pending notification of family, was crossing the busy roadway at 233 Easton Road. If she was crossing 611 in front of the Days Inn, she was jaywalking. There are two lanes going in each direction, with a turn lane in the center. It was not too long after rush hour- that road is still very busy at 7pm. You're taking your life in your hands to try to cross there!   more ›

Donate to Local Food Banks for National Canned Food Month

Hatboro and Horsham food banks are accepting donations.

February is National Canned Food Month and Lehman United Methodist Church and St. John's Lutheran Church, both in Hatboro, need donations of canned food year-round to meet the needs of many hungry children and adults in the area. The Days Inn in Horsham also has an ongoing collection of non-perishable food items to benefit the community and welcomes donations. Officials from the food banks in Hatboro said canned vegetables, spaghetti sauce, pasta, canned fruit, macaroni and cheese, cereal, canned meat (tuna, chicken and ham), peanut butter, jelly, boxed meals, powdered milk, toothpaste, soap, laundry detergent and toilet paper are items in high demand.  St. John’s office manager Michelle Santos told Patch previously that the church’s 8-…
