Camp Activities Abound at Hatboro Y

Hatboro Area YMCA offers 11 week-long summer camps through Aug. 29.

Don’t ask Adriana Burmeister to pick her favorite summer camp. There’s just too many to choose from. As she fleshed out the vivid watercolor and colored pencil hues of her fish during a recent Art Camp at the Hatboro YMCA, Adriana shared that she’s participated in “almost all” of the Y’s 24 week-long day camps. She’s made (healthy) carrot cake cupcakes in Crafts and Cooking Camp and designed a garden stone with the Phillies emblem. Adriana is one of about 400 campers the Hatboro Area YMCA will host this summer in a variety of camps ranging from cheerleading, gymnastics, fashion, sports, fishing and hiking, leadership training for teens, and more, according to Hatboro Y Camp Director Mary Fannon. Dive Into Horsham Summer Camps

Spots are still available in many of Horsham Township's summer day camp programs.

Andrew Lauerman is not easily grossed out. That’s definitely a good thing. Andrew, 8, of North Wales, a Horsham summer camp science explorer, quite literally dove into his week-long day camp. “I’m going to cut open the eyeball,” Andrew said with glee, while dissecting squid. As lunchtime neared and the overwhelming smell of the preserved fish filled the Horsham Township Community Center, Andrew grew even more excited with a new discovery: his squid had eggs inside. “Andrew is our expert dissecter,” said camp instructor Kristin Ritter, an elementary education major at West Chester University. “I guess the guts don’t gross me out too bad.” Besides smelling a bit fishy, campers learned about water pollution, conducted science experiments and …
