Crooked Billet Elementary School fifth-grader Lily Bigley was one of 13 student artists selected statewide as part of an anti-drug contest.
The colors are vivid. The message simple: "Don't Get Busted Because of Drugs!" Crooked Billet Elementary School fifth-grader Lily Bigley, 10, of Hatboro, spent about a week last year designing what would end up being a winning entry in a statewide art contest sponsored by the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office. For her win, Lily's piece was displayed as the February masterpiece in a calendar featuring all of the art contest winners. “I am so proud of her,“ gushed Lily's mother, Donna, who said her daughter has been into crafts and arts practically her whole life. And those creative juices must run in Lily's family. Mrs. Bigley said Lily's twin sister Mia's contest entry also made a good showing in the contest. No small feat when you …

Crooked Billet Elementary School was locked down for eight minutes Thursday afternoon, a school administrator told Patch. Hatboro-Horsham School District Superintendent Curtis Griffin told Patch that the lockdown - from 1:25 p.m. to 1:33 p.m. - was done at the behest of Montgomery County dispatch. Crooked Billet Elementary School students received valuable lessons in respect and consideration Friday during the school’s fourth annual Acceptance Day. Each year, Team Crooked Billet — a group of educators who coordinate the event — select a topic to teach students, so they are better informed about their peers and the world around them, and can become more accepting individuals. Educators on Friday talked about medical diagnoses and disabilities, since the subjects are becoming widely discussed issues. Students learned about hearing impairment and autism, and how those disabilities affect those who live with them on a daily basis. Students also heard from guest speaker and Hatboro-Horsham High School senior Sean Canepa, who shared …
