Montgomery County Parks and Heritage Services Department Cuts Staff
Scottish and Irish Festival, concert series eliminated
It is a trend in many local communities, and budgets at a county level are not much different. Facing rising costs and decreasing funds, departments throughout Montgomery County find the need to make cuts. Last week, the Montgomery County Parks and Heritage Services department announced the 2011 cutbacks. Director Ron Ahlbrandt said that it was not an easy process. “We had some tough decisions it came down to,” he said. The decisions were announced on Jan. 12, though all were made public back in December when the county’s overall budget changes were approved.
