Make Good (Re)Use of Campaign Signs

Montgomery County unveils new election sign recycling program.

Metal and plastic signs are dotted along streets and roads throughout the county to remind passersby that today is Election Day. In years past, tens of thousands of those signs were destined for the trash.   This year, however, the Montgomery County Recycling office has partnered with ReCommunity Recycling, Sullivan’s Scrap Metals and the Montgomery County Democratic and Republican Committees to collect and recycle all types of campaign signs along with their posts and stakes.   “This collection program does not take the responsibility for cleaning up campaign signs away from candidates. Instead, we want to connect candidates and home owners with drop off points so that signs can be recycled instead of thrown in the trash,” said Chris …
