NAS-JRB Willow Grove (Closed)
215-443-1000
Although it has Willow Grove in its name, the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base (NAS-JRB) is actually located in Horsham Township. Situated on 1,100 acres and originally purchased by the United States Navy, NAS-JRB has contributed to national defense for more than six decades. In 2011, the military ceased operations at NAS-JRB.
I cannot believe the citizens of Horsham, do not have the forsight, to see what a plus a small airport could do for tourism and family travel.
I was born and raised on Maple Ave. Near Dutches Diner. We just got, used to the "noise" of the Military Jets and other airplane noises.
I would love to be able to get on an airplane and arrive in Horsham to visit my Grandchildren. As many others would!! The closest I can get is either Philadelphia(ugh!!) or, Allentown.
There are several smaller airline company's flying from my home area(Port Charlotte,FL)
A smal airport was opened about 4 years ago and the flights are booked 80% of the time. The Airlines service smaller airports all over the east coast and mid-west.
There would be jobs and money for tourism and most likely, lower taxes.
Please, Horsham and area residents, don't allow this opportunity go by. The smaller airlines do not use the jmbo jets. Most of the planes carry about 100 passangers. One of the airlines is DIRECT AIR. If you can go online, check out towns and cities where this small airline flies
The people who complained about the Jets noise knew before they came to the area that there was a Military base in Horsham.
