New Playground Equipment for Tanner Park

Officials said $100,000 has been raised. More funds are needed for lighting and landscaping.

The Hatboro may have removed its indoor play equipment, but the fast food chain is helping to ensure that area kids have somewhere to play.

During a ribbon cutting this week for the , officials from Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Philadelphia Region announced a $15,000 contribution to the fundraising efforts for . McDonald's also chipped in $500 for the , which connects Springdale Avenue into the Jefferson Avenue park.

Elm Street Vice President John Farnen, who has worked on the park's fundraising and upgrades since the beginning, said just over $100,000 has been raised to date. And while Farnen said he hopes to raise $30,000 for landscaping and another $15,000 for lighting, the nonprofit organization's first milestone has been reached.

"We will have playground equipment this summer," Farnen said.
