State Championship In Sight

Hatters' wrestler Matt Harkins is two wins away from being state champ

Hatboro-Horsham senior is two away from realizing his dream of being the state champion.

Harkins beat Waynesburg's Derrick Nelson Friday in the quarterfinal round of the PIAA state wrestling tournament in Hershey. Now, down to the final four in the 119-pound weight class, Harkins needs to defeat Blue Mountain's Corey Keener Saturday in the semifinals before squaring off one last time in his high school career.

If Harkins is able to win both matches Saturday, he will not only become the state wrestling champion in his weight class, but he will also win the first state wrestling championship for Hatboro-Horsham since 1975.
