Hatboro Horsham Lady Hatters on to State Championships

The softball team wins its first district title.

This softball season, the Hatboro Horsham Lady Hatters have come further than ever before.

The Hatters won their first-ever District One AAAA championship with an 8-5 game against the Pennsbury Falcons yesterday, ensuring themselves a spot in the state championship tournament. They secured the Suburban One Continental Conference championship in May, finishing their season with an 18-2 mark that included a 12-2 record in conference play.

“I’m just very happy that we won the first district title. The girls deserve most of the credit.  I just want to go on winning and hopefully win the state finals,” said head coach Joe DiFilippo.

According to suburbanonesports.com, the second-seeded Hatters broke open a 5-5 tie with three unearned runs in the eighth to upset the top-seeded Falcons.

“It’s one of those things — Murphy’s Law,” Pennsbury head coach Frank McSherry told suburbanonesports.com.  “Anything that could go wrong went wrong.”
