Baseball: Hatters Fall to Pennridge

Pennridge defeated Hatboro-Horsham in extra innings on Thursday.

Hatboro-Horsham (7-7 overall, 5-5 SOL Continental) fell 8-7 in 10 innings at Pennridge (6-4 SOL Continental) on Tuesday afternoon. The Hatters jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning highlighted by Eric Lane's solo homerun. The Rams then scored 2 in the fourth and 1 in the fifth to cut the lead to 4-3.

The Hatters added 2 more runs in the top of the sixth inning when walks to Grant Opalisky and Chris Naiberk forced in runs.

The Rams came back in the bottom of the sixth with 3 runs of their own to tie the game. AJ Molettiere led off with a solo homerun. With two outs and men on first and second, the runners advanced to second and third on a balk call. Both runners then scored on a throwing error to tie the game.

In the Hatters' ninth inning, Kevin Barron led off with a double, advanced to third on a Ryan Kelly single, and scored on a single by Mike Maimone to give the Hatters a 7-6 lead. In the bottom half of the inning, Mike Kacergis was walked to lead off the inning, courtesy runner Evan Tice advanced to second on a walk and then moved to third on a groundout. He scored on a sacrifice fly by Jake Gordon to knot the score at 7-7.

With one out in the bottom of the 10th inning, Danny Shane walked and advanced to second when the next batter walked. He then scored the winning run on David Tatoian's RBI single to left field.
