Baseball: Hatters Defeat CB East

Hatboro-Horsham's baseball team came from behind to beat Central Bucks East Tuesday in extra innings.

The Hatters came from behind to beat Central Bucks East 6-5 in extra innings on Tuesday afternoon. The Patriots had come into the game at 7-0 in the SOL Continental. The Hatters (6-5 overall, 5-3 SOL Continental) got a great effort in relief from junior Dave Brown. Brown threw three hitless and scoreless innings while striking out three to earn the win.

Senior, and starting pitcher Ryan Kelly got the game-winning RBI when he delivered an RBI walk-off single to left field that scored sophomore pinch runner, John O'Malley. O'Malley pinch ran for sophomore Kevin Barron, who led off the eighth inning with a single and advanced to second on an error.

The Hatters tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning when sophomore Eric Lane was running on the pitch and scored on a single in the gap by junior catcher Eric Thomas.

Junior Brad Humski was 2-2 with a run scored, a walk, and a hit by pitch. Senior Zach Prendergast was 2-3 with two runs scored, a double and a hit by pitch. Senior Grant Opalisky was 1-3 with two RBI and a walk.

CB East shortstop David Yanni was 2-4 with two runs scored and a double. Ben Hauser was 1-3 with two RBI and a walk. Steve Usowski was 1-4 with two RBI and a double.
