When Will New Hallowell Be Built?

Hatboro-Horsham school officials said construction of the new elementary school hinges on the long-awaited transfer of land.

When construction will begin–and conclude–on the new Hallowell Elementary School is anyone's guess.

Hatboro-Horsham School District Superintendent Curtis Griffin shared during this week's board meeting that the federal government has yet to transfer the land which currently occupies the Horsham Memorial Army Reserve Center on Easton Road.

Horsham resident Gary Conner inquired if the new Hallowell Elementary School would be "built on time," meaning within the three-year window for construction.

"I believe that we will be more than able to meet that deadline," Griffin said. "Until the federal government turns the deed over to us the clock doesn’t start. We are waiting."

District officials had said they expected the land to transferred by May, but now are hopeful that it will be conveyed in a few months.
