Post Prom Party Fundraising Underway

In the midst of holiday shopping, work and family get-togethers and the onset of winter, who could think about prom gowns, updos and after parties?

Craig Draper and his team of parent volunteers, that's who. Draper and his crew comprise the Hatboro-Horsham Post Prom committee, a group fundraising like mad to put on a safe, seven-hour Post Prom Party for seniors.

If prom is every high schooler's rite of passage, then the second annual Post-Prom - slated to begin at 11 p.m. on May 25 and end at 6 a.m. on May 26 - is a continuation of that journey.

featured food, a DJ, all kinds of sports, movies and plenty of prize giveaways, including college essentials like microwaves, mini refrigerators, laptops, iPods and more. 

To date for the 2012 Post Prom Party, Draper said $4,000 has been raised through bake sales, , an ongoing and various parent and corporate donations.

"Our goal is $15,000 total in order for us to bring in additional entertainment and prizes for students who attend the party," Draper said. 

Another fundraiser that the Post-Prom committee will kick off this spring is a 2012 Fall Preview Prom Fashion show scheduled for March 4 at the high school. Local tuxedo, dress and flower shops are being sought to display their products and to donate items to be used in the fashion show, Draper said.

"We will be asking Hatboro-Horsham students, parents and staff to model the  tuxedos and dresses during the fashion show," he said. "We hope this show can become the yearly major fundraiser for the Post Prom Party."
