Pennypack Power Out, Students Bussed to Simmons

Pennypack Elementary School students will be transported to Simmons Elementary School beginning Monday and until power is restored at the Hatboro school.

PECO has yet to restore power toPennypack Elementary School, Hatboro-Horsham School District officials said, but that doesn't mean students will have another day off.

After having the last week off from school in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, students are to report to Pennypack as they normally would on Monday for bussing to Simmons Elementary School in Horsham, Assistant Superintendent Monica Taylor told Patch.

Taylor said students will be transported to the Horsham school at 9 a.m. The district prefers that Pennypack parents see that their kids report to that school so the district can uniformly bus kids to Simmons, she said.

If power can be restored in time Sunday, Taylor said Hatboro students would have school at Pennypack, she said.

"It is our hope that power will be restored," Taylor said, adding that she did not know when that would be the case.
