KV Student Choir Advances to Radio Contest Finals

Keith Valley Middle School students' final performance of "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" will air at 7 a.m. on Thursday. Voting takes place all day Thursday.

Winning the hearts and votes of Philadelphia area radio listeners with their rendition of “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch,” the seventh- and eighth-grade choir have claimed their spot as finalists in B-101’s annual Christmas Choir Competition.

The 165 Keith Valley music students edged out two other schools Tuesday — Phoenixville Area Middle School and Mary Volz School Elementary — for the chance to win a treasure trove of prizes for the school's music department, including $5,000, a new piano and a performance with Peter Nero and the Philly Pops.

Mindy Rubinlicht, Keith Valley's seventh- and eighth-grade music teacher, said the students and staff are very excited that they are close to winning the competition, and gracious the community has supported them throughout the process.

Voting starts at 7:15 a.m. and concludes at 9 p.m. Thursday. The radio station will announce the winners from Thursday’s competition at 7 a.m. Friday. To vote for Keith Valley’s chorus and learn more about the contest, visit B-101’s Web site.
