KV's 7th, 8th Grade Chorus Semifinalists in Radio Contest

The students' performance of "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" will air at 7 a.m. on Tuesday.

The Music Department is just a little closer to winning the ultimate grand prize of $5,000, a new piano and performing with Peter Nero and the Philly Pops now that its seventh- and eighth-grade chorus students are semi-finalists in B-101’s annual Christmas Choir Competition.

The 165 Keith Valley music students will have their harmonious rendition of “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” aired at 7 a.m. Tuesday during the Philadelphia-based radio station’s annual holiday choral competition segment. The contest gives schools an opportunity to win prizes that help enhance their music programs. Then at 7:15 a.m., the public can vote for their favorite of the nine area schools performing the holiday song.

Mindy Rubinlicht, Keith Valley's seventh- and eighth-grade music teacher, said students have been working on the project for quite some time, and after submitting a recording of their work to the radio station, they were recently selected as a semi-finalist out of hundreds of schools that were contending for the top spot.

“It is exciting to know we are on our way to winning a competition that will greatly benefit our students and music department,” Rubinlicht said.

Make your vote count

Voting starts at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday and concludes at 9 p.m. that day. The radio station will announce the winners from Tuesday’s competition at 7 a.m. Wednesday.
