Goddard School Kids 'Tinker' with Inventing

Kids from the Goddard School in Horsham recently toured the Tinkertoy factory to build upon a lesson in inventing, tooling and manufacturing.

Pre-kindergarten kids and teachers from the Goddard School in Horsham toured the Tinkertoy parts factory in Hatfield recently in helping to build on a lesson in inventing, tooling and manufacturing.

The children experienced first-hand the manufacturing process and gained insight into how factory workers employ 21st century learning skills, including how the factory supports collaboration, creativity, critical thinking and communication.

In collaboration with Tinkertoy, The Goddard School kicks off TEACH. PLAY. LEARN. 2014, a national campaign encouraging the early development of 21st century skills, including STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

The initiative engages children in collaborating on a problem-solving invention, which they will then build using Tinkertoy parts. This event supports The Goddard School preschool’s mission of playful learning as the children will use the nostalgic, but recently updated Tinkertoy parts to assemble a work of genius.
