'Challenge' Accepted

Keith Valley Middle School eighth-graders are playing hockey for 17 hours to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The first puck dropped in the gym of at 3 p.m. Friday and the last game of hockey isn't expected to end until Saturday at 7 a.m.

This year, the school's eighth-graders, who are broken up into 26 teams, raised about $48,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The organization grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses.

The students, many of whom painted their faces and decorated their team shirts, are expecting to stay up all night to participate in the hockey marathon with their peers.
