Baseball: Hatboro-Horsham Defeats Upper Dublin

The Hatters will play Nazareth Monday in the state tournament.

The Hatboro-Horsham High School baseball team scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to secure a 10-5 win over Upper Dublin and the District 1 3 seed in the PIAA State Baseball tournament. H-H will play Nazareth on Monday in the state tournament. Upper Dublin will be the District 1 4 seed and will play at LaSalle High School.

Zach Crim, who also earned the win on the mound with two innings of one run ball in relief of starter Tyler Zingle, started the rally by getting hit by a pitch. He then advanced to second on a passed ball. Ryan Kelly singled to score Crim and give the Hatters a 5-4 lead and he advanced to second on an error. A single by Kyle Scannell advanced Kelly to third,and then Scannell stole second. Kelly scored on a sac fly by Tyler Zingle and Scannell advanced to third on the play. Scannell scored on an RBI double by Conner Crookham. Casey Saverio followed with a single to center that scored pinch runner Zach Brenner. Chris Hens then hit a two-run homer to give the Hatters a 10-4 lead.

Crookham was 2-4 with a run and an RBI. Saverio was 3-4 with two runs and an RBI. Hens was 1-4 with a run and three RBI. Zach Prendergast was 2-4 with a run and an RBI.

Luke Felix tied the game for Upper Dublin in the fifth inning with a three-run home run.
