Artificial Turf Set for Mid-October Completion

Recent rain pushed back the project from its original Sept. 29 deadline.

Barring more rainy weather, Hatboro-Horsham's installation at Hatters Stadium is expected to wrap up the week of Oct. 16.

"That gives us the opportunity to have at least four football events, our Tip of the Hat (band competition) will be able to run," Athletic Director Lou James told the school board Monday night. "We’re a little behind, but all in all not bad for the rain we’ve had."

The stadium has been closed since July when work began, James said. He said the delays have not cost the district any fees beyond the nearly $1 million price tag, which also includes track resurfacing and field irrigation. Superintendent Curtis Griffin said opening celebrations will be held to "acknowledge the field."

The track will be resurfaced in July, Griffin said, because cooler temperatures this fall may impede its proper settling.
