YMCA to Present Pool to Parking Lot Plan

The planning commission will review the Hatboro Area YMCA's development plans.

Hatboro YMCA representatives will present plans to the borough’s planning commission this week, outlining the future of the outdoor pool.

The former swimming hole has been removed and metal fencing surrounds it.

Since announcing in January that the Y intended to close its outdoor pool, the nonprofit submitted minor land development plans to Hatboro detailing its future as a parking lot.

The Hatboro Planning Commission will review the Y’s plans during its meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m. at borough hall.

According to plans submitted to Hatboro, the YMCA intends to add several more handicapped parking spaces, as well as two 16-foot-high mounted lights and a row of trees, presumably to buffer residences to the rear of the facility against the extra light.

The Hatboro Y said previously that approximately 30 parking spaces would be constructed where the pool was once located.

Following the planning commission's review, the project would go before the Hatboro Borough Council for a vote.
