Traffic Improvements Coming to Busy Intersection

Limekiln Pike and Welsh Road in Horsham Township will undergo 'major intersection improvements' as part of a land development plan.

By early summer, construction could be underway for a complete overhaul of an entranceway into Horsham Township, an official told Patch.

Limekiln Pike and Welsh Road, which border Upper Dublin Township, will undergo roughly $800,000 in traffic and aesthetic improvements in conjunction with plans to build a 1,800-square-foot Beneficial Bank at that intersection, Horsham Township Manager Bill Walker said.

During a recent township council meeting, the governing body authorized application for a PennDOT highway occupancy permit. Once received, Walker said traffic signal improvements and intersection upgrades would begin at the same time as construction for the new bank, tentatively early summer.

Walker said he anticipates the bank to be built and open for business by Thanksgiving.

In terms of roadway upgrades, Walker said previously that a driveway is planned for the adjacent CVS, which is located in a strip mall with several other businesses. The existing traffic signal would be upgraded with LED lights, a traffic control box for emergency responders and generator capability in the event of power outages.

Designated turn lanes are planned for Welsh Road and Limekiln Pike, he said.

In addition to intersection improvements, officials said previously that Beneficial Bank has agreed to include a “Welcome to Horsham” sign on the property. Landscaping with additional tree plantings is envisioned, along with better stormwater management controls.
