Township Trash Collection Schedule Changes May 2

Lower Southampton's new trash pickup schedule begins tomorrow, May 2.

Hold off on hauling your trash and yard waste out to the curb, because the pickup schedule is about to change.

Beginning tomorrow, May 2 Lower Southampton residents will only have trash and recyclables picked up once a week, with the addition of one day of yard waste being picked up April through December.

Trash, recyclables and one bulk item will be picked up on Wednesdays and yard waste will be collected on Thursdays April through December 15.

New containers were distributed by J.P. Mascaro & Sons for single-stream recyclables only. Items that can be recycled in these bins, according to the township website, include: aluminum cans (beer and soda), aluminum foil and foil plates, metal lids, metal food cans, plastic bottles and containers labeled #1 through #7, and glass food and drink bottles and jars.

Paper and cardboard items including newspapers; inserts; magazines; catalogs; junk mail; envelopes; file folders; office white, colored and computer paper; cereal, tissue and gift boxes; waxed paper milk and juice cartons; paper bags; phone books; wrapping paper; corrugated cardboard boxes that can fit can be placed loosely in the recycling bins.

With these new single-stream recycling bins, the township suggests labeling your cart with your street name and house number, leaving the bin with the property if you move, contacting J.P. Mascaro & Sons if your cart needs repairs and keeping them and your trash cans three feet apart at the curb or street line away from your mailbox.

wait! when did this get approved? I don't remember ever hearing about this before now. So my taxes continue to rise, yet my services continue to drop, and we don't even get told about the changes anymore?
