Township Plans Intersection Upgrades
Easton Road and Dresher Road/Meetinghouse Road has been the site of many accidents
The Horsham Township Council on Monday night unanimously approved a plan to improve conditions at the accident-prone intersection of Easton Road and Dresher Road/Meetinghouse Road.
Township Manager Bill Walker explained that the township has been eyeing improvements there for about a year and has had a consultant look at crash data and traffic counts. One problem at the intersection, he said, is a hump in the road that decreases visibility.
The resulting recommendation, he said, was to install a left hand turn arrow for eastbound traffic making a left onto northbound Easton Road (Route 611) and extend the left turn lane for the same traffic from 140 to 300 feet.

Walker said the estimated cost of the project was $20,000 but the township will reduce that to $6,000 by having its Public Works Department put all the lines down on the road.
Now that the project has local approval, it must get the OK from Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

Asked for a project timetable after Monday's council meeting, Walker said he is hopeful the change can be made this year.
