Settlement Set for Former Wachovia Building

The borough-owned structure will be transferred to new owner, Hatboro Federal Savings, on Dec. 15.

The Hatboro Borough Council, on Monday night, voted 5-0 to have Borough Manager Steven Plaugher execute a deed for conveyance of the property, which is located at 212 S. York Road. Council members Aleta Ostrander and John Zygmont - who had recused himself previously from voting on the $500,000 transfer - were absent.

"Thank God," was the lone comment made during public comment prior to a vote being taken.

Hatboro Federal President and CEO Joseph J. Tryon, Jr. told Patch previously that the bank planned to move its administration offices, as well as its boardroom to the former Wachovia Bank building. In addition, some of the people working in the branch on York Road - one of four Hatboro Federal locations - would be relocated there, he said.

Tryon said the transition is expected to occur in the next six to eight months, following construction.
