Horsham Launches Parks and Recreation Website

Horsham Township makes registering for various classes, courses and sports a snap with its new site, www.HorshamRec.com.

Would you like to learn how to cook with your pre-schooler, make music together, or help perfect his soccer skills?

You can register for these Horsham Township Parks and Recreation programs (and others) with a few clicks of your mouse. This week, the township launched its parks and recreation Web site, which provides for instant registration for the township’s multitude of classes, trips and sports offerings.

The intent, according to Horsham’s Parks and Recreation Director Mark Hudson is to “offer an easier option” for enrolling in the township’s recreational programs.

“It offers people an opportunity to do it form their home computer,” Hudson said, adding that people would not be limited to mailing a check or coming to the township building between 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to register, as was previously the case.

Last year, almost 1,000 people participated in a township program, Hudson said. With the ease of access, Hudson said he’s hoping that that number will grow.

Some of the newer programs Hudson said he’s hoping to continue offering include Aikido, a form of martial arts; and a woman’s self defense course.
