In a release, Horsham Township Council President Mark McCouch said he was "extremely proud" that the township's first-ever annual report received the statewide award.

“The township is committed to its cost control measures and recycling efforts," McCouch said. "We accomplish both by publishing the annual report electronically, which cuts down on paper expenses and is environmentally friendly.”

The annual report award is not the first time PSATS–which represents 1,455 second class townships, including Horsham–recognized the township. As part of its 43rd Annual Township Citizen Communication Contest, the state and federal lobbying group awarded Horsham first place in the “other publications” category for its trail map, which was published in 2009. The township tied for second place in the Web sites category in that year's contest as well.
