Hatboro Ups Pool Fees, Councilman Will Use Free Membership

Following Hatboro Borough Council's vote to raise membership fees at Hatboro Memorial Pool, Councilman Mark Sheedy said he would make use of a free membership.

As the Hatboro Borough Council voted to raise rates at Hatboro Memorial Pool for all non-employee members, one of two councilmen favoring free memberships for elected officials said he intended to use his this summer.

But, Councilman Mark Sheedy said he would not be swimming at the borough-owned pool. Last year, Sheedy said he bought a pool membership and never dipped a toe in the water. Instead, he was there "just to talk" to borough residents. This summer, he said, will result in the same approach, only without him paying for the membership.

"Even if I walk down the street people can ask me questions about the borough," Sheedy told Patch after Monday night's meeting. "I'm always on the clock."
