Hatboro to Consider Rezone of Industrial Area

Hatboro is considering overlay zoning, which, if enacted, would permit additional uses in the area of Jacksonville Road.

Good-bye heavy industrial, hello residential, retail and offices.

That's the prospect on the horizon under a rezoning plan that Hatboro's municipal planner, E. Van Rieker, presented in November to the borough council.

As proposed, the change would rezone a portion of Springdale Avenue and create overlay zoning that would permit additional uses along portions of Jacksonville Road and Bonair, Lincoln, Springdale, Summit and Tanner avenues, officials said.

The council will meet an hour earlier on Monday–at 6 p.m.–to discuss the proposed changes to the borough's existing heavy industrial-mixed use zoning district.

Van Rieker will be meeting with staff on Monday evening to review changes, the proposed map and districts. The public is invited to attend and provide feedback.
