Hatboro Restricts PODS, Dumpster Use

Hatboro has set time limits for the use of Dumpsters and Portable On Demand Storage Units.

PODS and Dumpsters can no longer sit out in Hatboro indefinitely.

Under an ordinance that the borough council adopted Monday night, residents and business owners wishing to use portable storage units or dumpsters would need a permit and would be limited to a 30-day time period with up to two 30-day extensions, amounting to the potential of 90 days of use, officials said previously.

The ordinance takes effect in five days, borough attorney Christen Pionzio said. Those who violate it could be fined up to $300.

The regulation also requires that "the condition of these units be kept up to snuff relative to our code," Pionzio said.
