Hatboro Manager May Resign

Tommy Ryan plans to leave his job of 11 months for employment at West Bradford Township

Before some members of Hatboro Borough Council even heard the news, two residents inquired about the resignation of Borough Manager Tommy Ryan.

During Monday's meeting, a man said the news was already out there and asked when the council would discuss Ryan's replacement.

Council Vice President Nancy Guenst, who chaired Monday's meeting, refused to comment.

"His announcement of that will be at our March meeting," Guenst said. "I haven’t seen an official letter of resignation so I can’t comment on that."

Ryan, who last spring filled the position vacated by Police Chief James Gardner, told Patch afterward that he has received a "conditional offer" from West Bradford Township in Chester County.

Ryan said the offer is "subject to a couple other conditions." One of which being approval from the West Bradford Township Board of Supervisors. The governing body is expected to vote on Ryan's hiring during its March 8 meeting, Ryan said. If the board votes affirmatively, Ryan said his two-week notice would follow and he would finish work in Hatboro the fourth week in March.

Prior to being hired by Hatboro, Ryan served in three other municipal government positions, including borough manager for Trappe and planning director for Towamencin.
