Hatboro Makes Board, Commission Appointments
The Republican-controlled council drew criticism for not conducting interviews.
The Hatboro Borough Council on Monday night made more than a dozen appointments to various municipal boards and commissions - all without conducting formal candidate interviews.
"Why are we not having interviews?" Councilwoman Patricia Fleming, a Democrat now in the minority, inquired of Council President John Zygmont. "It’s normal procedure. In the past, when we’ve had mulitple applications for a position, we held interviews."
Zygmont gave no reason for omitting interviews.

"You had the list since Thursday," he responded. "It’s been on the agenda that you got on Thursday that it’s not that way."
Former Council President Marianne Reymer had submitted letters of interest for four of the openings, but was not appointed to any.
