Hatboro Keeps Taxes Flat

The Hatboro Borough Council adopted its 2014 budget, which maintains the existing tax rate.

Hatboro will spend more on its police force and health insurance costs in the coming year, but taxpayers will continue to pay the same amount.

The borough council this week adopted its $4.9 million spending plan, which maintains the borough's 7.891 millage rate. At that rate, the owner of a property assessed at $100,000 would pay $789 in municipal taxes in 2014. Of that, $617 would be earmarked for Hatboro's general fund, while $91 would go to debt service and the remaining $80 would fund fire protection, according to figures Council President John Zygmont provided previously.

The budget includes annual 3.75 percent salary increases for the Hatboro Police Department under the recently approved four-year police contract
