Hatboro-Horsham Senior Wins Statewide Honor

Hatboro-Horsham High School Student Council President Sean Raymond was recognized as a standout student leader.

Sean Raymond not only guides his school in student-related functions and activities, he leads statewide.

A Hatboro-Horsham High School senior, student council president, regular school board meeting attendee and prospective political science major who's shadowed Montgomery County Commissioner Josh Shapiro and worked in Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz's office, Sean was chosen recently to receive the Dale Hawley leadership award.

The Pennsylvania Association of Student Councils gives the Dale Hawley award to one student leader from Pennsylvania each year who "demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities" at the association’s Summer Leadership Workshop. The winner is nominated and selected by workshop directors, staff, and their fellow delegates.

Sean, who was acknowledged during Monday's Hatboro-Horsham School Board meeting, said he received the award last weekend while at a conference with a "couple thousand kids" throughout Pennsylvania who were also vying for the honor.

It wasn't until his name was called that Sean said he knew he won the award and was a "little bit surprised" about being selected to receive the plaque.
