Hatboro Business Organizations to Share Office

The Greater Hatboro Chamber of Commerce will begin leasing space at borough hall.

Main Street Hatboro and the share business-boosting missions - and soon they will share an address.

The Hatboro Borough Council this week approved leasing a second floor office space – formerly the fire marshal’s office – to both organizations beginning on May 1. Under the lease agreement, the chamber will pay the borough $300 a month for rent. Main Street Hatboro, which currently rents first floor space in borough hall, will be relocated upstairs on May 1 too. That organization’s rent was also set at $300 per month, but will be waived as an “in-kind donation,” Borough Manager Steven Plaugher said.

“We have a strong chamber of commerce and the ability for the chamber to save money in the way of lease payments will allow them to get back on their feet and provide services to their members,” Plaugher told the council.

Moving the Main Street office there as well would free up “much-needed space for storage and other supplies,” Plaugher said.

Council President John Zygmont noted at the start of the meeting that the lease had not been discussed at the governing body’s March 12 committee meeting as is customary prior to the council voting meeting because it “required some prompt action.”

Meredith Baker, the chamber’s operations manager, said the organization’s existing office at 220 S. York Road would close as the chamber relocates.

“Moving the office will allow the chamber to work more closely with Main Street Hatboro and the borough,” Baker said in an email.
