Hatboro Borough Councilman Resigns

Vincent LaSorsa, who is on the Republican ballot for re-election, resigned from his seat on Wednesday.

With only three months until the November general election, an incumbent Hatboro Borough Councilman tendered his resignation.

Republican Vincent LaSorsa, in a one-sentence letter emailed to Council President John Zygmont on Wednesday, stepped down from his position on council.

"With deep regret, I hereby resign from my position as Council Member and Vice President of Hatboro Council, effective immediately," LaSorsa wrote in the letter.

LaSorsa's wife, Barbara, who sits on the Hatboro-Horsham School Board, said the family's move to Horsham prompted her husband's resignation. She said the relocation would not impact her position on the school board though.

Patch was unsuccessful in reaching Zygmont for comment.

Assistant Borough Secretary Diane Hegele said the council would formally accept LaSorsa's resignation at its Aug. 12 meeting. The governing body would likely discuss at that meeting who could replace LaSorsa for the remainder of his current term, which is up at year's end.

Patch was unsuccessful in reaching Sandy Zygmont, Hatboro Repubican Organization chairwoman regarding a replacement for LaSorsa in the upcoming election.
