Hatboro Awards Road Paving Contract

The 2012 road project came in lower than expected for two roadways in Hatboro.

Jefferson and Corinthian avenues in Hatboro should make for smoother travels once road paving is carried out later this year.

The Hatboro Borough Council on Monday awarded a $79,110.25 contract to Bray Brothers Inc. for the project, which includes Jefferson Avenue from County Line Road to Corinthian Avenue and Corinthian Avenue except for where the roadway intersects with Warminster Road.

Councilman David Rich said six other bids – ranging from $107,000 to $133,000 - were received.

Council President John Zygmont told Patch previously that the borough typically budgets between $180,000 and $200,000 per year for paving and said this year's abbreviated work would likely cost about half of that amount.

The remaining roadways that had been originally part of this year's paving program will be done in 2013. Those roads include Bank Street, the intersection of Horsham, Moreboro and Academy roads and the former Wachovia Bank parking lot.
