Got Graffiti? It Will Cost You

The Hatboro Borough Council adopted its long-discussed graffiti ordinance.

It's official: Hatboro property owners who allow graffiti to remain on their buildings will pay the price.

Of a fine and removal, that is.

Hatboro officials first began discussing the possibility of a graffiti ordinance– modeled after one in place in Upper Moreland Township–in June.

The governing body this week adopted the ordinance, which calls for victims of graffiti to be fined in instances where the graffiti is not removed or covered over within 30 days.

The new law also asks that store owners be "watchful" of customers seeking to buy spray paint, or indelible markers.

What do you think of the new ordinance? Do you have a problem with graffiti on your property? Share in the comments how you handle it.
